Nirvana Wood : Our logo depicts beauty through simplicity, just as the calm outward appearance of swans belies the determined but unseen workrate beneath the surface.

Piece featured in Fine Woodworking, #177, June 2005

The piece which featured in Fine Woodworking, # 177 of June 2005

and again in Taunton's Wooturning (May 2007), is shown in Gallery 4.

Niall Cahill is a woodturner based in the countryside near Dunboyne, Co Meath, Ireland.  He has been woodturning for several years and is a member of both the Irish Woodturners' Guild and the American Association of Woodturners. He is also registered with the Crafts Council of Ireland. For 2006/07 he was Hon Secretary of the Irish Woodturners' Guild.

He creates functional and non-functional bowls and one-of-a-kind woodturnings and other hollow forms mostly from local indigenous trees with character and versatility.  However, Niall also takes inspiration from the beauty of exotic hardwoods.  Commissions such as lidded boxes, candlesticks, boxes, bowls, plates, goblets, gavels, baby rattles, bud vases, table lamps etc are welcome.  These make excellent wedding, retirement or sporting presents.   Concept pieces are available. Examples of past designs are exhibited in the website photo gallery.  Click a button, below.

Niall does not specialise in a set type of turned form, rather he experiments with a broad range of styles and this results in improved technique over the range of items he creates.

His first interest in woodturning came about following training in New Zealand and what started as a hobby has grown into a full-fledged pursuit and allows him to create and express ideas through the medium of wood.  Niall operates under the name of Nirvana Wood and has creations placed in homes throughout Ireland but also in Spain, United Kingdom, USA, Australia, and New Zealand.  You will see in the Gallery some of the items which Niall has created.  Some of those on display may be sold but should you wish to commission a similar piece please contact him (email from Link page).

In his woodturning every item has its own particular features. Each is a one-of-a-kind creation, unique in the world.
